I've been thinking a lot about how Jermaine Berry's murder on Geneva Avenue fits into the broader picture of violence in Dorchester and Mattapan during 2010. It seems like every time we revisit cases like this, we're reminded of the harsh reality so many families faced that year. What's really striking is how overwhelming it must have been for law enforcement trying to manage the situation with such limited resources. I can't even begin to imagine the frustration and hopelessness felt by the community. I hope Jermaine's family has found some peace over the years; they’re often pushed into the shadows behind the statistics, but their pain is very real. I wonder if initiatives since then have made any true progress in reducing violence there. Anyone have any updates on that front?
