I've been reflecting on the idea of public celebrations turning into chaos, especially after reading about Michael Lowery's story again. It's so deeply upsetting to think about how a night meant for celebration changed the lives of so many families forever. Michael didn't get to experience what's supposed to be the carefree time of childhood, and his family was robbed of watching him grow up. It's disheartening that, despite the arrests made for looting and other charges, justice for the senseless killings seems out of reach. Does anyone here think the city or community could have done something different back then to prevent such violence? It's tough to understand how something meant to unite can end in such tragedy. Any thoughts on how communities can ensure safety during such large celebratory events?
