I’ve been reading more about what happened to Jeffrey J. Weides, and my heart aches for his family and loved ones. I can’t imagine the shock and pain they must have felt when they heard the news. It’s so surreal to think about how he was just doing his job at JB's Pub, and his life was cut short in such a violent way. One thing that really stands out to me is the courage of the patrons who managed to subdue Casteel until the police arrived. It can't have been easy to confront someone so dangerous, and their bravery undoubtedly prevented even more lives from being lost. Moments like these remind us of the strength and resilience within communities, even when faced with such unimaginable horror. Does anyone know if any memorials were held in Elgin for Jeffrey and Richard Bartlett? I hope the community found ways to come together to honor them and offer support to everyone affected.

I’ve been thinking about the role that the community played in subduing Casteel during that horrific night at JB's Pub. It’s incredibly courageous how the patrons stepped in, potentially saving more lives. I can’t imagine the fear and intensity of those moments, but their actions showed such bravery and solidarity in the face of chaos. It's something that must have provided some solace to Jeffrey Weides' family, knowing that, even amidst tragedy, there were people willing to stand up and protect one another. My thoughts are continuously with the loved ones of both Jeffrey and Richard Bartlett. Does anyone else feel a sense of admiration for the heroism displayed that night? It's a reminder of how communities can come together, even when faced with unimaginable circumstances.
