Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Kajaunce Morton, and I can’t wrap my head around how senseless these acts of violence are. A 16-year-old kid with his whole life ahead of him, trying to escape a dangerous situation, and then, just like that, his future is stolen from him. It makes me think about the kids in these neighborhoods who have to face such terrifying realities daily. The arrest of Denzel Lewis is a step towards justice, but it will never bring Kajaunce back to his family. I hope his loved ones can find some form of peace as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. This incident is a grim reminder of issues that need more attention from both community leaders and lawmakers. The young people in our communities deserve to feel safe and have the opportunity to grow up without the constant fear of gun violence.
