Has anyone else been following the tragic case of the Stack family in Elmhurst? I can't shake the feeling of sadness every time I think about it. It’s so hard to understand how someone who was seen as a loving husband and father felt that this was the only path forward.
It seems like the Stacks were dealing with a lot—caring for their adult children with severe disabilities and Joan’s declining health must have placed enormous stress on them. I wonder if there were any signs of Francis struggling or reaching out for help before this heartbreaking decision was made. Did the community around them miss any warning signs, or was he truly a private man hiding his emotional turmoil?
My heart goes out to their friends and anyone who knew the family. It’s haunting to think about what they went through. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on how communities can better support families dealing with similar situations to prevent such tragedies. How can we spot when someone needs help, especially if they are too proud or afraid to ask for it?
