Hey everyone, I've been following Deon Gilbert's case closely, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. One thing that's been haunting me is the role Deon's church, Ellis Avenue Church, played in his life. It's truly moving to hear how involved he was, attending almost every Sunday. They’re not just mourning; they’re actively trying to tackle the violence plaguing their community. I can't imagine the strength it must take for them to continue their mission while grappling with the loss of someone so young and full of potential. With all the violence in South Deering, it’s painful to see another community and family touched by tragedy. It makes me wonder what more can be done to support these kids, not just by addressing the violence directly but by creating spaces where they feel safe and valued. Maybe community centers, mentorship programs, or partnerships with local schools and churches could provide some hope and stability. What has the church been doing in response to all this? Would love to hear more thoughts on how we can all come together to support these communities facing such struggles on the daily. Stay safe, everyone.
