Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the issue of witness cooperation in cases like that of Malcom Tompkins. The fear of retaliation is undoubtedly real in communities shadowed by frequent violence, and it's a layer of complexity that really complicates investigations. The pressure on individuals who might have seen or heard something to stay silent is immense. It makes me wonder if there are more effective ways for law enforcement and communities to work together to protect those witnesses. It’s devastating to think about how this lack of cooperation might impact justice for Malcom and his family. They have been incredibly brave, organizing rallies and vigils in hopes of getting the community to rally behind them. It's a testament to their courage, but also highlights how deeply entrenched the problem is. Do any of you think there are additional measures that could be taken to create safer environments for witnesses to come forward? Creating more secure and anonymous reporting systems, or maybe community-led initiatives? Sending lots of support to Malcom’s family and all those still impacted by this tragedy. ?
