I recently came across the tragic case of Devon Davis, and I can’t help but think about the profound loss his family must be feeling. One thing that really struck me was Devon’s passion for music. As a young man who was majoring in Music Production at Harold Washington College, he clearly had dreams and ambitions that were cut far too short. It’s heartbreaking to imagine all the potential he had and how it’s now forever lost. Being the youngest of seven, Devon’s siblings must be devastated. It’s important that we recognize and support these families, who have to navigate through not just their grief but the complexities of the legal process that's unfolding. As a community, coming together and pushing for preventive measures that address the roots of violence can honor Devon’s memory in a meaningful way. Does anyone have thoughts on how communities can better engage with youth to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future?
