I've been thinking a lot about Caprice, the 16-year-old who lost his life alongside Jerome. It's so utterly devastating to hear about such young lives being cut short in such a brutal manner. The fact that they were just hanging out, maybe playing dice or chatting, makes it all the more real and senseless.
Does anyone know if there have been any updates from Caprice's family or friends about how they're coping or advocating for justice? I feel like sometimes the focus can be so heavily on the investigation and the crime itself that the personal stories get lost. Losing a child or a friend so violently is unimaginable, and I hope that their community and loved ones are finding ways to cope and stay strong through this horrific ordeal.
Let's keep sharing their stories so that Jerome and Caprice are remembered as more than just victims of another Chicago shooting. They were real people with real lives and dreams. We cannot forget them.
I was doing some digging into Jerome Phelps' case and I can't stop thinking about the community response back then. I remember reading about how neighbors were rallying to push for peace and justice in their area. Community vigils and rallies were being organized to honor Jerome and Caprice, and it seemed like everyone was trying to come together to demand answers and change. Despite the fear and heartbreak following such a violent event, it was inspiring to see how people banded together to offer support to the families and call for action against the continuous cycle of violence. Does anyone here have insights into whether those efforts had any long-term impact on community safety or awareness? It's been years, and I really hope that their efforts haven't been in vain.
Does anyone know if there's been any update on the investigation into Jerome Phelps' case? It’s devastating to think about how much time has passed without justice for Jerome and Caprice. Their families must be going through so much pain, and it's not right that they have to wait so long for answers. I really hope the community continues to support them and that someone comes forward with information. It's unsettling knowing the suspects are still out there. Sending strength to everyone involved. ?️
