I recently came across Erick L. Lacey's case while reading about unsolved crimes in Chicago, and it deeply resonated with me, especially his grandmother Raydell's efforts. The nonprofit she founded, Not Before My Parents, and the Chess Moves Against Violence club are truly inspiring initiatives. It’s admirable how she channels her pain into helping others, trying to make a real difference in their community. It’s so painful to think of all she’s endured—losing both her daughter and grandson to violence. Her strength and resilience are something we should all acknowledge and support. Has anyone from the neighborhood mentioned what could make community members feel safe enough to share information more openly? It’s such a challenging environment, and I can’t help but wonder if there are other ways we can assist those working tirelessly to prevent these tragic losses. My heart goes out to Erick’s family and everyone navigating this devastating cycle of violence.
