It's truly difficult to wrap my head around how traumatic this must have been for the people in the neighborhood that day. I keep thinking about the folks who might have just been stopping by the Quick Market, maybe grabbing a snack or some last-minute groceries, and suddenly finding themselves in the midst of such a violent and terrifying scene. It really highlights how gun violence doesn't just impact the direct victims and perpetrators, but entire communities. I hope the neighborhood has had access to some sort of counseling or support initiatives since that day. It's a tight-knit area, and such a tragedy could leave a lasting impact on everyone who calls it home. Sending my thoughts to Jarvis Coleman's loved ones and the whole West Garfield Park community.
