Jarvis Coleman, a 24-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 22, 2016, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a Quick Market located at 2 North Keeler Avenue. Coleman was approached by John Montgomery, who pulled out a loaded semi-automatic handgun and fired multiple times at the unarmed victim.
