Hey everyone, I've been following Julius Maurice Coleman's case, and something that's been on my mind is the lack of video surveillance in the area where he was shot. I know Englewood is a tough neighborhood, but in this day and age, it's surprising there aren't more cameras around, especially in spots known for high crime rates. More street cameras could potentially deter crime and provide crucial evidence when things like this happen.
I feel for Julius's family and friends—it's beyond frustrating to think that more information might be available if only there were better surveillance. I've seen some advocates pushing for increased city funding to improve tech resources in high-crime areas, and I think it's such an important conversation to have. Hopefully, as a community, we can push for solutions that might prevent future tragedies like this one. Anyone else think more surveillance could make a difference?
I’ve been following the case of Julius Maurice Coleman since it first hit the news, and something that sticks out to me is the lack of surveillance footage in the area. Given the high crime rates in Englewood, you'd think there would be more cameras installed to deter such tragic events or at least capture evidence. It breaks my heart to think that this young man’s life might have been cut short without any concrete leads due to the absence of video footage. It would be a small, yet significant, step towards justice for Julius and others who have suffered similarly. My heart goes out to his family and friends, who deserve closure and the peace of knowing exactly what happened that day. Is there any ongoing community effort to push for more surveillance in high crime areas? I truly hope something can be done to prevent other families from going through the same pain.
