I've been following the Purcell case since it first broke, and it's just devastating on so many levels. One aspect that really gets overlooked is the role mental health support (or the lack thereof) played in what happened. Christopher's struggles with alcoholism and mental illness seem to have been ongoing for years. I can’t help but wonder what resources, if any, were available to him and if there were missed opportunities for intervention. It's clear the family tried to help him, but sometimes it takes more than just family support. It’s disheartening to think about how things might’ve been different with better mental health care or community resources. Also, the family’s grief and shock speak volumes about how unpredictable such situations can become. Sending love to Sean and Kevin, who must be dealing with unimaginable pain right now. Their willingness to share their story highlights the urgent need for more mental health awareness and preventative measures. Wondering if anyone else has thoughts on what could be done to improve support systems for people in similar situations?
