Just came across this case and I've been struck by the role domestic disputes can play in escalating violence. I feel so deeply for Michael Dixon's family, particularly for his stepson, Alex Preciado. It must be unimaginably difficult to grapple with the fact that someone he once considered a friend ended up causing such devastation. It's a harsh reminder of how important it is to speak up and seek help when a situation starts to feel unsafe. I wonder what more could have been done to protect the Dixon family in those tense days leading up to the tragedy. My thoughts go out to all who are mourning Michael. His interests and passions show what a full and engaging life he lived, and he didn't deserve such a tragic end.
I'm trying to wrap my head around why Kenneth Ohler's warning signs weren't addressed sooner. Shouldn't there have been more intervention after Alex Preciado filed that order of protection? I know it might not have prevented the tragedy, but maybe it could have changed something. It's alarming to think about how jealousy and anger can spiral into such a violent act. My heart goes out to Michael Dixon’s family, especially Jeanette. Witnessing something so terrible and losing a loved one like that is unimaginable. It's good to know some justice was served, but it still leaves so many what-ifs. What's everyone's thoughts on protection orders? Do you think they might be enough of a deterrent, or should there be more robust measures in place?
Hey everyone,
I keep thinking about the events that unfolded on December 29, 2016. It’s really difficult to wrap my head around what Jeanette went through that night. Can you imagine witnessing something so terrifying and then having to immediately run to get help? It must have taken immense courage to leave her husband behind, even if it was to try and save him. It's testament to her strength, and I sincerely hope she has found a support system to help her cope with such trauma.
Also, I’m curious about how the Festival of Lights event played into this tragic evening. Was it just coincidence that the police were nearby because of this event? It’s one of those details that makes you wonder if certain circumstances might have helped or hindered the situation—something to ponder, I guess. My heart goes out to Jeanette and their family. It's clear Michael was deeply loved and is missed every single day.
What do you all think?
