I recently came across the case of Savanna Wilson and it struck a chord with me, especially in terms of how easily something like this can happen. It’s so tragic to think that a fun visit between friends could end up in such a devastating way. It makes me wonder about the accessibility and education regarding firearms, especially in homes with children. As a parent myself, I can’t help but feel for both families involved in this unspeakable tragedy. The weight of knowing a moment of carelessness resulted in such loss must be incredibly hard to bear. It raises so many questions about what systems failed to allow a child to have access to a gun in the first place. I'm thankful to hear that the school provided counseling for those who needed it. The emotional support for everyone who knew Savanna must be so important right now. It's incredible to see the community coming together to support Savanna’s family through fundraising, and I hope it provides some comfort to them. If anyone has more information on how to contribute or ways the community is rallying around them, I'd be grateful to know.
