I've been thinking about the way Julio was taken from this world, and it just breaks my heart to see how often similar situations crop up. There's something specifically chilling about the random and sudden nature of this kind of violence. Being a teenager, sitting in a car, and then abruptly being caught in such a horrific event — it makes you wonder about the randomness of it all and the cruel hand fate can sometimes deal. What bothers me the most is the fact that this happened in an area where there are several surveillance cameras. You'd think with so much technology around us, these kinds of mysteries would be easier to solve. Yet, here we are, years later, with no answers for Julio's family. How frustrating and painful it must be for them to continue on without closure. And for the people of West Lawn, this tragic event only adds to any existing concerns they must have about safety. How do we even begin to curb the kind of violence that plagues our cities? It's a difficult question, but one we need to keep asking. My thoughts are with Julio's loved ones, and I truly hope someone who knows anything will find the courage to speak up. Maybe then, we can bring some peace to his family and community.
