Hey everyone, I've been digging into the tragic case of Antwaine Curbeam, and something that keeps sticking out to me is the lack of witness cooperation. I get that living in a neighborhood plagued by crime can make people reluctant to come forward—fear of retaliation is very real and very scary. But it’s just so frustrating that these fears seem to be stopping justice in its tracks. Curbeam’s murder happened in an area that had already been marked by such violence. You’d think the community would be motivated to help put an end to this cycle. I can only imagine how hard this must be on his family and friends, knowing there might be someone out there with the key to solving this case who’s too afraid to speak up. It’s a tough situation all around. If we could find a way to ensure witnesses are protected and feel safe enough to talk, maybe we’d see a breakthrough. Just some thoughts. What do you all think could have helped in cases like Antwaine’s where witness cooperation is a huge hurdle?
