I’ve been thinking a lot about Mashell Rena Appleton lately and how traumatic the experience must have been for the two elderly friends who were with her during that attack. Being in their 70s, they must have felt terrified and helpless witnessing such a horrific event. It’s one thing to read about awful things happening in the news, but to experience it firsthand, especially at that age, is unimaginable. The fear and shock they must have carried with them after the incident is heartbreaking. It's crucial for the community to support these survivors as well, and I hope that they’ve received the care and counseling they needed to process this tragedy. If anyone knows more about how they're doing or how the community might be able to help, please share. Let’s continue to advocate for justice for Mashell and perhaps, in the process, help her friends find some semblance of peace.
