I've been following the tragic case of Kenwon Parker, and it's really troubling to think about how things might have been different with proper surveillance in place. It’s deeply concerning that in a crowded event with so many people and officers around, there's no video evidence to help piece together what exactly happened. It's understandable that Kenwon's family feels let down by the system, especially considering the malfunctioning or nonexistent cameras. It's clear they want to ensure that no other family has to endure such an ordeal. Their push for more security measures at Garfield Park is a step towards not only justice for Kenwon but also towards making the area safer for everyone. It’s the least the community deserves after such a senseless loss. My heart goes out to Keyoner and Tina Westbrooks, and I really hope their perseverance leads to real change. Has anyone heard any updates on further security measures being considered for the park?

Seeing the community’s response to Kenwon Parker’s tragic death has been both moving and frustrating. I truly sympathize with his family, especially his mom and aunt, as they endure the heartbreak of not only losing a loved one but also facing hurdles in finding justice. It’s troubling to hear about the lack of required body cameras for officers working park district security; it feels like such a necessary tool in today’s world. The fact that a 13-year-old was taken into custody yet hasn't led to charges in connection with Kenwon’s death is perplexing, to say the least. You can feel the family's determination in their demands for accountability and improved security measures. Installing even just one camera after their advocacy shows some progress, but is it enough? It’s their persistent courage in advocating for their community's safety that stands out to me. Kenwon deserves justice, and his family deserves peace. Here’s hoping for more positive changes soon.

I recently read about the case of Kenwon Parker, and my heart goes out to his family. I can't even begin to imagine their pain, especially with so many questions left unanswered. One thing that stuck out to me was the absence of any video footage. It's baffling that, in such a busy area with over 50 officers and potentially thousands of dollars in security infrastructure, there weren't any working cameras to provide clarity. It's beyond frustrating to hear that the park district's cameras weren't operational and that some officer body cams were turned off. This lack of transparency makes it even harder for Kenwon's family to find the closure and justice they so desperately need. I truly hope the newly installed camera helps, but it feels like too little, too late. We need to do better by our communities and ensure that these systems are thoroughly checked and functional to prevent anyone else from experiencing this kind of loss. Kenwon's story reminds me of the importance of our voices to push for change and keep pressing for accountability. Stay strong, Westbrooks family. ?
