I’ve been following the Michael Carney case closely and wanted to talk about something that’s been on my mind since learning the details. It’s absolutely gut-wrenching to imagine how his little girl must have felt during and after the incident. Being only 5 years old and in the car with him at the time, her experience is something unimaginable. Children are so resilient, and it’s easy for us to focus on the headlines and forget about the impact this violent act had on someone so young. I can’t help but think about the ongoing emotional support she’ll need. She’s in my thoughts, and I hope her family has the resources to help her process this traumatic event. While legal proceedings continue for Perry Gosa, we shouldn’t lose sight of the real lives that have been forever altered. Michael’s daughter, in particular, will need all the love and support that the community can provide. This case serves as a touching lesson in protecting and nurturing our children, especially in the face of such indescribable loss.
