I can't stop thinking about the call between Jasmine and her cousin Mikhayla. It must have been absolutely terrifying for Mikhayla to hear everything unfolding on the other end and feel so helpless. I can't even begin to imagine the pain and urgency in Jasmine's voice as she reached out for hope and safety. It's something that Mikhayla will likely carry with her forever. It's a stark reminder for all of us to listen and offer our full support when someone confides in us about being in danger. My heart goes out to Mikhayla and the entire family. Jasmine's tragic story is yet another tragic reminder of the grip domestic violence can have and the importance of taking any threat seriously. I hope that sharing her story will contribute to meaningful change, so that fewer families have to endure such a painful experience.
