Has anyone else been captivated by the case of John Darrell Neubauer lately? I was just reading up on it, and it's so puzzling how someone could vanish so completely even with a known last seen location. It struck me as odd that despite knowing he was swept away in a river, no trace of him has been found. Does anyone have insight into how often bodies aren't recovered in river disappearances? I wonder if the Cowlitz River has hidden currents or other environmental factors that complicate recovery efforts. It's strange how some cases get extensive search operations but still end up with no closure. Would love to hear any additional theories or similar cases.

Has anyone else found it strange that John Neubauer decided to swim across the Cowlitz River in late February? I mean, the water must have been freezing! I wonder if he was an experienced swimmer or if anyone warned him about the dangers of the river currents at that time of year. It's so puzzling that after all these years, there's still no trace of him. The fact that his body was never recovered makes me think that there's more to this story than just an unfortunate accident. Could anyone familiar with the area shed some light on how strong the currents typically are around that time? Maybe there's something we’re missing here...
