I'm still trying to wrap my head around the chaos that unfolded in that McDonald's on March 12, 2019. It's hard to imagine how a simple meal with a friend could turn into such a tragedy for Deshawn Rogers and his loved ones. I keep thinking about the bystanders present, especially any children. The trauma they must have experienced witnessing such violence is immense. Does anyone know if there were any efforts made to provide support or counseling for the witnesses, particularly the kids? This incident not only impacted Deshawn’s family but also left ripples across the community. It's so disheartening to see how quickly things escalated and the long-lasting effects this has on so many lives.
I've been thinking a lot about the impact this tragic event must have had on the Bronzeville community, especially the kids who were inside that McDonald's when things went down. It’s unimaginable for adults to witness such violence, let alone children who just wanted to enjoy a simple meal. Deshawn's passing must have been incredibly difficult for them to process. It's beyond unnerving when such violence erupts in public spaces that are meant to be safe havens. I hope the community has access to the resources needed to help everyone, especially the kids, heal from witnessing something so traumatic. It’s just so sad that Deshawn lost his life so suddenly. My heart goes out to his family and to everyone affected by this tragedy.
