I’ve been following the devastating case of Dovantae Jackson, and I just can't shake the impact it must have on the local community, especially his family. Here’s a 15-year-old with a full life ahead of him, and now his friends and family are left to deal with an unimaginable loss. It frustrates me how senseless gun violence has become such a grim norm in certain areas, like the Austin neighborhood. These streets should be a safe haven for kids to grow, not places where lives are abruptly ended. I sincerely hope that the community can come together to make sure Dovantae’s life isn’t remembered just by the way it ended but urged to fight for change and security in every child’s life.
