I recently came across Tanecia Proctor's story, and it just makes me think about how fragile life really is. It's deeply saddening to know that she survived a stray bullet a year before, only to be taken in such a senseless act of violence later. I've read about how her case, like so many others in Oakland, struggles because of witness silence. I can't help but wonder if more awareness or support might encourage those who know something to come forward. Tanecia deserved the chance to live her life, and her family deserves answers and justice. It's just so frustrating that the cycle of gun violence continues, and people are living in fear or staying quiet. How do we break this cycle? My heart goes out to those who loved her. I hope they find the peace they need, and that someday there will be a breakthrough in her case.
