I’ve been following Cedric Smith’s case closely, and my heart goes out to his family and friends during this time. I recently came across a community initiative in Gresham that’s trying to address the violence in a more grassroots way. They’re organizing neighborhood patrols and youth programs aimed at preventing future tragedies like Cedric’s. It’s inspiring to see locals step up, but it makes me wonder if there’s more that can be done to support these efforts city-wide. Has anyone here had experience with these types of initiatives in other neighborhoods? How effective do you think they’ve been in actually reducing violence and making communities feel safer?

I've been following the case of Cedric Smith, and it's so troubling to see yet another life taken by senseless violence. What really strikes me is the level of fear and silence in the community. I understand that people are scared to come forward with information, but this only lets the perpetrator walk free and puts everyone else at risk. My heart goes out to Cedric's family and friends. They need our support and a strong push from the community to demand more protection and resources from local authorities. If anyone knows anything, even the smallest detail might be the piece detectives need to connect the dots. It's time for all of us to rally together and foster an environment where people feel secure to speak up without fear of retaliation. Justice for Cedric means safety for all.
