Hi everyone, I've been thinking about the impact that Laterryon, affectionately known as "L.A.," had on the students at the Freeport School District where he worked as a cook. I've read some touching comments from those who knew him at school, and it’s clear that he wasn't just any staff member—he truly stood out for his kindness and the way he treated everyone with respect. It's difficult to imagine how this senseless act of violence has affected the students he served and interacted with daily. Losing someone in such a tragic way can leave a lasting impression, especially on young people who looked up to him. If anyone from the school community has stories or memories of L.A. that they're comfortable sharing, I believe it could be a meaningful way to honor his legacy and the positive influence he had. Keeping Laterryon's family and friends in my thoughts as they navigate this incredibly tough time.

I recently came across the tragic case of Laterryon "L.A." Brumfield, and I can't stop thinking about his parents, Yotusia Jones and Gregory Brumfield. Losing a child is something no parent should have to go through. From what I've read, Laterryon seemed to have such a bright future ahead of him, and it's clear he was deeply loved by his family. The fact that this happened in a neighborhood he called home makes it even more disturbing. It's unsettling to think about the fear and uncertainty that his family must be experiencing, not knowing who is responsible or why it happened. I hope anyone who knows anything about that night finds the courage to speak up. L.A. and his family deserve answers and justice. It's heartbreaking that we lose so many young lives like his to senseless violence. My thoughts are with his family and everyone in Freeport who knew him.
