It's so devastating to hear about the circumstances of Gerald Kates' murder in Chicago Lawn. I can't even imagine the pain his family must be feeling, especially having witnessed such a horrific event from their own home. It's mind-boggling to think that Larry Hogan was already out on bail for a weapon-related charge when this happened. It's troubling how someone could have access to such a dangerous firearm, a Glock pistol with a switch and that huge magazine, while free on bail. It makes me wonder how often our system fails to keep communities safe by allowing repeat offenders back onto the streets. My thoughts are with Gerald’s family as they navigate through this incredibly difficult time and seek justice for his tragic and untimely death.
