I've been following Kelvin Edmonson Jr.'s case, and one thing I can't stop thinking about is the location of the shooting—right there in Bronzeville, so close to the police headquarters. It's hard to wrap my head around how something so tragic could happen just blocks away from where the people who are supposed to protect us work every day. I really feel for his family and the whole community there. It must be so frustrating and painful to have no answers, especially when it felt like help should have been right there. I hope there are ongoing efforts to look into how this could have happened unnoticed or unprevented, and hopefully, it brings some form of accountability or increased safety for everyone in the area. My thoughts are with Kelvin's loved ones.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the location where Kelvin was found. It's unsettling how close the incident happened to the Chicago Police Department headquarters and yet, here we are, still without answers. It makes me wonder about the visibility and safety that a higher police presence is supposed to provide. Kelvin's family and friends must feel so abandoned knowing it happened right under the nose of where help should be most accessible. With the violence in the area seemingly escalating, it's more important than ever for the community and law enforcement to collaborate and find ways to prevent these tragedies. So many lives affected, and it seems so senseless. My heart truly goes out to all those who are missing Kelvin and struggling with the aftermath of his loss.
