I can’t stop thinking about Francisco's family, especially his wife and kids. I read that his son actually saw someone who looked like Pedrote-Salinas leaving the scene. I can't even begin to imagine the trauma that must have caused him. Witnessing something so horrific must be unbearable for a child, or anyone really! It's unfathomable to think about what they’re going through right now and how they must be feeling in the wake of this senseless act. The thing that haunts me is the context of this crime. They lived just a house away from the person who allegedly did this. It’s unsettling to think about how people we might casually greet in passing or live next to could hold such darkness. The fact that this neighbor decided to take such a devastating action is beyond comprehension. It’s also disturbing that Pedrote-Salinas had previously been involved with legal matters regarding the gang database and this happened despite that. I'm hoping the family can find some sense of peace during such a painful time and that justice is served swiftly. This case is a stark reminder of how fragile life is and how urgently we need changes in our communities to prevent these tragedies from repeating. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Francisco.
