Hey everyone, I’ve been reading about the tragic loss of Caron Reaves and felt compelled to discuss the larger implications on the community, especially regarding access to after-school programs for teens. It seemed like Caron had so much potential and was caught up in a situation that’s all too common in areas where there aren’t enough resources for young people. We often don’t talk enough about how important it is for neighborhoods to have safe spaces and activities for their youth. Bronzeville, like many areas, seems to be in need of more community centers or programs that can engage young residents and provide them an alternative to the streets. It's heartbreaking to see another promising life cut short. Does anyone know if there are any new initiatives in Bronzeville or similar neighborhoods that aim to tackle this issue? It would be nice to see some positive change come from this tragedy. Sending thoughts to Caron’s family and friends as they mourn his loss. I can’t imagine the pain they’re going through, and I hope they get the answers they deserve soon. Stay safe, everyone.
