I’m just heartbroken over Anthony Manuel’s death. I can’t stop thinking about how young he was—only 19. I’ve been reading about the Auburn/Gresham area, and it’s so distressing to hear about how common this type of violence is there. This is tearing families apart every day. I really feel for his loved ones who have to endure this loss. It’s beyond tragic that any parent or sibling has to go through this nightmare. I’ve been following this case, and I keep wondering about community support in that area. Are there enough youth programs or organizations stepping up to help teens like Anthony stay safe? We often talk about justice after a tragedy, but is there more we can do as a community to prevent these tragedies in the first place? It’s a complex problem, I know, but sometimes it feels like more could and should be done. My heart goes out to all affected.
