Hey all,
I’ve been following the case of John W. Blackman with a heavy heart and wanted to point something out that some of you might have noticed as well. The fact that more than 40 shots were fired is staggering and suggests that this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment attack. It’s chilling to think there might’ve been multiple gunmen involved, and it raises so many questions about what really happened that night.
John seemed like such a pillar in his community, trying to guide young people away from the same mistakes he made in his youth. It’s devastating to lose someone who was working so hard to make a positive change. I can't imagine the pain his daughters are going through right now, not to mention the rest of his family and friends.
In cases like this, it’s upsetting that no arrests have been made yet. I hope the investigators are considering all angles and that the public provides any tips or information that could lead to a breakthrough. John deserved so much better, and so does his family. We need to keep talking about this and remember him not just for how he died, but for all the good he did.
Is anyone aware if there are local groups or initiatives stepping up in the wake of his passing to continue his work? Let’s continue to support and uplift his community, and hopefully bring about some justice and healing.
Stay safe, everyone.
I've been following the case of John Blackman, and I can't help but think about the incredible gap left in the community after his tragic passing. After reading more about him, it's clear he wasn't just another statistic—he was a beacon of hope for so many young people. His work with kids in Englewood, showing them a way out from the gang lifestyle, demonstrates how much difference one person can make. It's beyond tragic that his own life was cut short by the violence he was fighting against.
I've been particularly moved by the stories of how John would use his personal experiences to genuinely connect with these kids and steer them toward a better path. It seems like the kind of dedication and passion that can't easily be replaced. I can only imagine the ripple effect of losing a mentor like him. The narrative that he was using his "second chance" to change lives is both inspiring and gut-wrenching, knowing how it ended.
I hope the investigation finds those responsible. The fact that nobody has been arrested is incredibly frustrating—I can't even begin to fathom the anguish his family and friends must be going through. It serves as a harsh reminder of how much work is still needed to address the violence in Chicago. Does anyone know if there are any updated efforts to push forward the investigation or community initiatives being started in John's memory?
I was reading about John Blackman's case and it's beyond upsetting how someone who gave so much to his community met such a tragic end. One detail that keeps haunting me is the sheer number of shots fired — over 40! That’s not just an attack; it feels targeted and vicious. It doesn't make any sense why someone who was working to help steer young people away from the street life could be caught up in something like this. It just makes you wonder about the mindset of the people involved. How could they not see the ramifications of their actions, not just for John's family but their own community as well? Our thoughts and prayers should definitely be with his daughters. It’s devastating knowing they lost a father who fought hard to give them a good example. I truly hope the investigators can piece together enough evidence for some arrests soon. This family deserves closure, and more importantly, justice.
