I've been following the tragic case of Warren Oliver Davis's murder, and something that's been on my mind is the lack of witness cooperation. I understand the fear and pressure people might feel in these situations, especially in neighborhoods where speaking up could put them at risk. However, it's so vital for witnesses to come forward – even anonymously. I can't begin to imagine the pain his family must feel not having closure or justice. It's a grim reminder of how important community involvement is in resolving such cases. If anyone has any insight on what might encourage more people to step up, it would be interesting to discuss. It feels like there must be ways to better protect and support witnesses so they feel safe to share what they know.
