I’ve been thinking about the role of community relationships in cases like Atlanta Gibson’s tragic death. It’s really disheartening to hear how the lack of cooperation from potential witnesses is stalling progress. I totally understand why people might be hesitant to come forward, given the fear of repercussions. Yet, it’s crucial for justice and for helping families like Atlanta’s find some peace. Community trust in the police needs to be built stronger so people feel safe and supported when sharing what they know. I hope those who might have been around on that day realize their part in helping heal a broken family. Sharing even the smallest details could make a world of difference, not just for the case but for everyone who calls Roseland home.
