Did anyone else find it particularly unsettling how quickly things escalated in the Back of the Yards neighborhood after Edwardo Jimenez was killed? We're talking about a community where families live, and it feels like these senseless acts keep hitting harder every time. It’s so distressing to imagine how his family and friends must be feeling right now. I can't help but wonder if there are enough resources being put into prevention and support for these neighborhoods, rather than just reacting after the fact. Maybe if there were more programs focusing on youth and offering alternatives to gang life, we wouldn't be seeing so many young lives lost to this violence. Edwardo deserved so much more than to be another statistic in this ongoing nightmare. Anyone else have thoughts or insights on how the community or city could better protect its youth?
