I've been following the tragic case of Michael Scott Cunningham, and my heart goes out to his family and friends who are grappling with such an unthinkable loss. It's just so perplexing to wrap my head around how someone can be taken away so violently during what should have been just another day. I read somewhere that Michael was supposed to perform with his band, the Lost Highway Band, later that week. It's heartbreaking to think about all the moments he should have had. Does anyone know if the band plans to do a tribute in his memory? Music was such a big part of his life, and it seems like the right way to honor him. Sending love and strength to those who knew and loved him.
I’ve been reading through everything about the tragic events in Witt, IL, and I just can’t shake the memory of Michael Cunningham’s music. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform with the Lost Highway Band a few times, and each performance was filled with so much energy and passion. You could tell he truly loved being up there on stage playing his heart out. Losing someone with such vibrancy and talent in such a terrible way is a reminder of how fleeting life can be. It’s just incredibly difficult to comprehend how something like this could happen to someone so full of life. My heart goes out to Michael's family, bandmates, and all who knew him. It’s clear he left an impact through his music and will be dearly missed by many.
I can't stop thinking about the role music played in Michael's life. As a member of the Lost Highway Band, he must have brought so much joy to those who knew him and saw him perform. I mean, being a percussionist requires such a unique talent — blending rhythm with emotion, driving the heartbeat of the music. It's tragic to think of all he contributed to his community that we won't get to hear again. For those who knew him, his presence will surely be missed both on and off stage. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and bandmates in this difficult time. Anyone else here familiar with his music or had the chance to see him play?
