Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into the Palisades Reservoir boating accident case from 1980, and this caught my attention: Has anyone considered the impact of the cold water shock on the victims? With the water being only 51 degrees, I imagine the cold immediately incapacitated some of them, making survival and self-rescue nearly impossible. I’m curious if any studies or experts have analyzed how cold shock might have affected the situation. Cold water survival is such a complex topic, and maybe understanding these details can shed a bit more light on what might have happened that tragic day. Would love to hear any insights or similar cases that might help piece this together.
