I've been digging into the Moore's Ford lynchings, and I keep coming back to the courage and strength of Dorothy Dorsey Malcom. It's hard to imagine the sheer terror they all faced that day. Something that really stands out to me is how vulnerable and exposed they were, being ambushed in the middle of the day. It makes me think about the kind of fear that permeated the lives of African Americans in the South during that era. Despite all this, Dorothy and the others were part of a community that continued to fight and push for their rights, even when the odds were stacked against them. I can't help but feel deep respect for their resilience. It's also just frustrating to think about how the justice system failed them over and over again. What a reminder of the work that still needs to be done in recognizing and addressing racial violence. My heart goes out to the families who have carried this burden for so long, never seeing justice served.
