Does anyone else find it unusual that Edward E. Nye managed to escape from a psychiatric facility with such ease? I mean, considering the nature of his crimes and the fact that he was awaiting sentencing, you’d think there’d be tighter security. Back in the early '80s, security protocols must have been different, but it still seems odd. Did he have help from the inside, or did he exploit some sort of vulnerability in the system? I’ve been trying to piece together how someone with his background could have vanished into thin air like that. If he had connections or support outside, maybe that would explain it. Any thoughts on how he might have pulled it off and remained undetected for so long?
Has anyone else considered the possibility that Edward E. Nye might be living under an entirely new identity? With his background as a youth counselor, he could have had the skills to blend into a community without raising suspicion. People were less tech-savvy in 1983, and it wasn't as difficult to assume a new identity back then. Plus, if he had family in upstate New York, they might have helped him get a fresh start. It's unsettling to think he could be living a normal life somewhere while avoiding justice. Would love to hear what others think about this angle or if there are any similar cases where someone successfully disappeared this way!
