Edward E. Nye, age 37, went missing on February 21, 1983, after escaping from the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany, New York. Nye had been arrested in January 1982 in Canaan, New York, on 30 counts of first-degree sodomy, now termed criminal sexual acts. After pleading guilty to several of these offenses, he was sent to the psychiatric center for evaluation while awaiting sentencing. On the day of his escape, Nye disappeared, and authorities have been unable to locate him since.
