I've been following Wayne Smith's case off and on for a while now, and it's so frustrating to think about how little progress has been made since he was tragically killed in 2009. I recently read that Wayne had been shot before in 1998, which must have been terrifying to survive only to face such a tragic end years later. It's unsettling to think about how violence keeps circling back on some people. What keeps sticking with me is the lack of surveillance footage or witnesses willing to come forward. I know there's a lot of fear surrounding these situations in Baltimore, and people are worried about retaliation, but it's heartbreaking that justice seems so elusive because of that silence. I can't imagine what Wayne's family has gone through—a decade-plus without closure must be incredibly painful. It's important that we keep discussing these cases, bringing attention to them, and encouraging anyone with information to speak up. It's clear that solving these crimes requires the whole community's involvement. Here's hoping that someday Wayne's family can get the answers they deserve.

I recently came across the case of Wayne Smith, and it really struck a chord with me. Wayne was a husband and father, taken far too soon at the age of 42. I can't imagine the anguish his family must feel, living with so many unanswered questions all these years later. What's especially troubling is how Wayne seemed to be a repeat victim of gun violence. Surviving a shooting in 1998 only to face such a tragic end in 2009 makes you wonder about the level of danger some people endure daily. The fact that police considered the possibility of a connection between the two incidents but never found anything concrete must add even more layers of frustration and grief for his loved ones. I really feel for Wayne's family, having to carry on without justice or closure. The emotional toll must be unimaginable. I hope that one day, someone will find the courage to step forward and share what they know. Cases like Wayne’s reflect a much larger issue of fear and silence that needs addressing if we're ever going to see positive change in cities like Baltimore.
