Has anyone else looked into Wiley's manuscript from before he disappeared? I keep wondering if it could provide some insight into his mindset or plans. It seems strange to me that none of it has surfaced online or been analyzed publicly in detail. Given that he was a police chief and a pretty meticulous guy, I wonder if he hid clues in there on how to get away or even just hints at his dissatisfaction with his life. It's also interesting that he was writing about a homicide—maybe a form of escapism or a reflection of his own life. If somehow getting hold of it is possible, it might shed light on whether he really intended to vanish and start fresh, rather than meet with foul play or an accident. Thoughts?
Has anyone else been intrigued by that letter found on the typewriter in Mel Wiley’s office? I can’t stop thinking about it. From what I've read, it seemed carefully crafted, almost like he planned everything to a T. Makes me wonder: was this his way of leaving behind a breadcrumb trail to signify he was looking for a fresh start? Why would someone wanting to vanish leave such a deliberate clue, unless he wanted people to know he was okay? It just feels like something out of a detective novel itself, which, considering his interest in writing one, seems eerily on-brand. I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on whether he was truly inspired by his own writing or if the letter was meant to mislead those looking for him.
