I’ve been thinking a lot about the community's response to Joseph "Suga Bear" McDonald's tragic death. Even though I didn’t know him personally, seeing how people have rallied together in Snellville is truly moving. It’s clear that Joseph touched many lives, even at such a young age. The memorial at Gillespie Park, with all those baseball caps and fishing rods, really shows how much he was loved and is sorely missed. I read that Joseph’s friends and classmates at Shiloh Middle School held a moment of silence and shared their fond memories of him. It must be so hard for kids to process something like this. I can't imagine what his teachers and friends are going through seeing that empty desk every day. The way the town has come together to support Justin Cato, who survived the attack, speaks volumes about the strength and compassion in this community. Having that support system is hopefully helping him through what must be an unimaginably difficult time. My thoughts are with all of Joseph’s family and friends as they navigate this senseless tragedy. Hoping for justice and some form of peace for everyone involved.

I’ve been following the Joseph McDonald case, and it just hits me hard every time I think about his friends and teammates from the Royals Little League. It sounds like the community really rallied around his memory, but I can't imagine the pain those kids must be feeling trying to deal with the loss of their friend. From everything I've read, Joseph was such a positive presence on his team, always lifting everyone’s spirits. I hope the ongoing grief counseling and support in Snellville is helping those kids navigate such a tragic experience. His story really makes me think about the importance of providing mental health resources to young people dealing with trauma. Sending love to all those who loved and cherished "Suga Bear."
