I came across the case of Mark John Refsell while researching missing persons in coastal areas, and I find it puzzling how someone can vanish without a trace. I understand his car was found near a cliff on Highway 101, but what stood out to me was the lack of any personal belongings nearby. If he was taking photos, wouldn’t his camera or phone have been nearby too? It's strange that there were no signs of his belongings, which makes me wonder if perhaps someone might have come across them and taken them, not realizing their significance. Has anyone seen or heard anything about the missing items or if they were ever recovered? It's such a haunting mystery.

Hi everyone, Has anyone else looked into the idea that Mark Refsell might have had a charismatic and impulsive personality? I was reading through some old articles, and this angle just struck me. Imagine being so caught up in capturing a perfect moment that common safety measures just slip your mind. It also makes you wonder if there were any signs that could have hinted at his being more adventurous or risk-taking before. This could explain how he ended up in such a precarious spot without realizing the danger. Has anyone come across info or stories from friends that paint a picture of his behavior leading up to when he vanished? I'm curious if this might have been part of a pattern or just a one-off moment that ended tragically. Thoughts?

Has anyone looked into the weather conditions around Newport, Oregon on March 26, 1986? I'm just curious if there might have been something about the weather that day that could have contributed to an accidental fall, like high winds or rain. Could it also be possible that tides or currents in that area made it difficult to recover his body? I know the Oregon coast can be pretty unpredictable, and it might help explain why they didn't find anything despite searches. Anyone with local knowledge or historical weather data that could shed some light on this?
