I'm still struck by the way Jessica's case kept unfolding. I wanted to talk about the appellate process, as it's a part people might not often focus on. It took four years for the Georgia Supreme Court to affirm Walker's conviction. The length of time it took highlights just how painstakingly slow the justice system can sometimes be, especially for the victims' families, who deserve closure and justice. Although the court ultimately upheld the original sentence, I can't imagine the emotional toll this drawn-out process must have had on Jessica's loved ones. If anyone has insights into how families cope with long legal battles, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. It feels overwhelming to think about what they must've gone through.
