I’ve been following the case of Verdell Bee Jr. and Princess Stanford and something I can't stop thinking about is the community’s response. The outpouring of love and support at Verdell’s funeral really stuck with me. It must have been a testament to his character and the positive impact he had on those around him. Losing him and Princess like this has left such a void, and I truly feel for their family and friends who are trying to navigate through this immense loss. I grew up around Memorial Drive, and what hits hardest is how close to home this is. The loss of young lives to senseless violence is a heavy reminder of the work we need to do in making our communities safer. The fact that the investigation pointed to a suspect so quickly gives me hope that justice will be served. I hope Verdell and Princess's loved ones find some solace in knowing how much they were cherished by all who knew them.
