Just reflecting on the role mental health played in this tragic case. It's so unsettling to think that if proper intervention had been available or sought for Kosky, we might have been looking at a different scenario. I can’t imagine the frustration and anguish the victims' families must feel knowing that something systemic like that might have made a difference. It’s heartbreaking to think about these lives cut short and the trauma left behind. Mental health services and prevention are so crucial; it's important that we continue advocating for better resources and support. Thoughts and prayers to all affected by this incomprehensible act.
Does anyone else find it deeply unsettling how, despite the tragic loss of such young lives, we still see tragic patterns repeating themselves? I recently came across an old report mentioning that Kosky pleaded guilty but mentally ill, and I keep wondering how our systems seem to fail again and again in getting individuals like him the help they need before something catastrophic happens. It's not just about justice after the fact, but also about prevention.
Keith Gibson and the others deserved to have a future—I can't help but feel frustration knowing that better mental health interventions might have changed the course for everyone involved. How can we advocate more effectively for mental health support and intervention to prevent these horrors before they occur? Love and strength to the families who continue to bear the pain of their loss.
