How has the community been responding to this tragedy? I've been reading a lot about the legal aspects of the case, but I can't stop thinking about the environment Jose grew up in. It's clear he was a peacekeeper, involved in positive activities like soccer and cross country. It seems like he was trying to bridge gaps and help others, yet he ended up losing his life. I can only imagine how his friends and teachers at East Jackson High School must be feeling. Schools often serve as a sanctuary for students, and it's hard to process when someone so young and full of promise has their life cut short in such a senseless way. Are there any memorials or initiatives in Jose's honor? I hope the community comes together to remember his spirit and continue the mission he seemed to embody—resolving conflict without violence.
